[US] 5005256 Marvel Super Heroes Minifigure Collection promotion
Posted by CapnRex101,
The inconsistent distribution of the Bricktober minifigure packs inspired some disappointment last year and I think 5005256 Marvel Super Heroes Minifigure Collection was subject to particular attention.
Fortunately, it has been announced that this minifigure pack will be available with any purchase exceeding $75 from shop.LEGO.com and LEGO brand stores during the first week of March! This has only been confirmed for the US so the promotion will be exclusively available there, presumably.

dang! i wanted that but it seems i wont be able to get it
Lego’s behaviour with exclusive products being region locked or event locked really makes me reconsider this hobby sometimes.
I still hold unto hope that they'll release these in the UK at some point.
I'd heard rumours ages ago they were going to end up being a store promo item, but region locking them to America is a poor decision if that ends up being true.
Annoying. I just dropped big money for Apocalypseburg and I don't want to have to pony up $75 for a "freebie".
Question: do bricks and pieces orders count towards the $75? I was thinking about making a fairly large bricks and pieces order but I’m not sure if that counts towards the promo since it’s not technically a product in the shop...
I already bought Wong from a Canadian third-party seller. He's the only one I really wanted so, no big deal eh?
captainbnj - My experience is that orders from bricks & pieces do not count towards promotional items. However, online pick a brick orders do count towards promotional items.
I wish they would have done this in Europe... What happened in September/October was that scalpers bought all of these packs within the first hour of their release and no one else got them. Two TRU stores told me about this on separate occasions, including one when I was there around 11:00 on the same day they were released.
If Lego Stores had them, it would have been be fair since they'd only hand out one per customer.
Looks like the availability of this set will coincide with the opening of the Captain Marvel movie in the USA. It would have been better to have this Marvel minifigure set as a promotion during the release of the Avengers End Game sets.
From someone who is mad that the Chinese Market gets exclusive sets this pisses me off as well if other people aren't able to acquire it, I want Wong for the Sanctuary but maybe he appears in the Endgame sets in the other half othat two in one building set.
I want Wong, but will not be able to get this.
Region exclusives, once again. Keep them coming TLG, keep going on showing fans from other regions the middle finger.
For the record, I hate Superheros, so no hard feelings from me this time.
I already got it fromBricklink but I may have to grab a spare. For those balking at the $75, you can always return your purchase and keep the promo - just saying... :-)
@JDC: At least in my area, promos must be returned along with the original purchase. Otherwise people would abuse the system and do this all day long.
So. Want. This.
hmmm, will the avengers: endgame sets be released at that time?
@ted_lego
Actually the lego return policy has it that if you do not have the GWP when you return it, the GWP's market value gets deducted from the return. So lets say a GWP's value (if it were on sale) is $5 and you got it a purchase of $20. If you return your items w/o the GWP, you'll get $15 in return
Hopefully the endgame sets will come out when this promo comes out
I’ve never been asked about returning a promo but I guess thats because I normally buy from LEGO.com and if I decide to return something, I return it to my local Lego store. The store’s system isn’t connected to the LEGO.com system anymore, so they can’t give you a refund but they will give you a gift card for the full amount. I recently decided I didn’t want my unopened Hogwart’s Castle (71043) and I returned for for the credit and kept the Diagon Alley (40289) set. No bad intent, I just decided the $400 would be better spent on sets I wanted more than the castle.
Bricktober now Brickmarch or Brickeaster lego is loosing the path see Lego Movie 2 Brickheadz.
Keeping my fingers cross that the Avengers: End Game sets will be available during the first week of March, but if not, I'll just pull the trigger on Apocalypseburg.
Since that is about the eBay price, thank you! But now I need to find 75$ of product. That will be tough with this year's offerings.

@mroper thanks!
@Phathead I would say the main difference is MARVEL is probably the biggest and most popular franchise in existence right now and it's origin was born out of a highly collectible product.

“To all of those complaining about a regional distribution concept, don’t forget that we never got this in the first place when virtually everyone else did.”
We didn’t get it in the U.K. either.
“Better yet, why aren’t you people upset about the Lunar New Year sets? That was a decision based on race, plain and simple.”
You must be new. Plenty of us were upset at not being able to get those sets. Just look at the comments sections on reviews of those sets. I’ll ignore your attempt to turn a children’s toy into a race issue.
An ongoing Super Hero Collectible Minifigure series would surely serve the Lego Group and AFOLs, TFOLs and KFOLS better than this golden carrot dangling nonsense? I believe the exclusivity leaves many fans LESS willing to pursue licensed themes. Non?
Each series could contain original costumes, costume variants, alter-egos, disguise versions, sidekicks, partners, enemies, arch-villains. The Wizarding World got a series so how about comic universes?
avengers sets coming out soon? my question is how come no images , seems like every other series has images whole year coming up.
@night13flyer. There are "spy" images in the googlesphere for 3 sets so far. As usual, Marvel/Lego is trying to keep them under wraps to avoid movie spoilers.
I understand people being upset regarding regional releases and exclusives, but I think we've all been on the short end of that at some point. Can't win them all.
Also, I've personally never looked at Lego as an investment or whatever, but if you do it IS rarity that makes your collection valuable after all.
Hi all,
I have actually received confirmation from my local LEGO store that the Endgame sets will be coming out on March 31st. So disappointingly we wont be able to get the endgame sets to get this GWP. :(
This promotion doesn’t seem to be panning out I need an update. Not appearing on Shop @ Home yet
@stud_economy: my local Lego Store (in Los Angeles) confirmed that the promo actually starts Friday, March 8th. So, it appears it'll be the second "week" of March... not the first as the article states.
@jag.house: thanks for this. I called one in my area (Jersey Gardens) and they were unaware of when it was going to be available, and I didn't see any mention of it shop @home. Makes sense waiting for Captain Marvel's opening.
I also visited my local Lego Store and they informed me the Promotion will be starting March 8th with a wink and a nod.
